New to Sky Gym

We’re excited that you’ve decided to try out a class. You won’t regret it! We believe that everyone is capable of taking flight- regardless of your shape or size. That’s not to say that it’s easy, your first class will probably be very challenging, but we encourage you to stick with it. Just try your best and have fun!

How to get started

Register a Sky Dance, Sky Fit, or Sky Yoga class and pre-pay to guarantee your reservation. Cancel at least 24 hours in advance to avoid fees. Click here to redeem your voucher before attending class.

Be kind to your body

We recommend getting a good night’s sleep before class. Be sure to eat enough to sustain moderate-intense physical activity, but don’t eat a huge meal right before you fly. Drink plenty of water, and PLEASE reschedule if you are feeling sick.

Dress comfortably

We recommend wearing a fitted and stretchy top and leggings, similar to a yoga or fitness class. Baggy clothing gets twisted in the equipment and rides up when we flip upside down. You can also choose to wear athletic shorts over leggings if they prefer. You won’t need any shoes or socks on the equipment. We don’t allow any jewelry on the equipment.

Arrive 15 minutes early

To get checked in and sign a waiver. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver for you. We have bathrooms and showers available.

Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring?

We have all the equipment you’ll need at the studio, so just bring a bottle of water and a positive attitude!

What if I’m not a teeny tiny tinkerbell?

We strive to make our studio a place where everyone feels comfortable. Sky Gym is a low-impact workout and can be done by people of all shapes, sizes, and ages. For our Sky Dance classes, we recommend being able to hang from a bar for 10 seconds, but if you can’t, don’t fret, there is still alot that you can do. Sky Fit and Sky Yoga are great classes for building your grip and arm strength in preparation for Sky Dance classes.

While all of our classes are high intensity, they are also very low impact because you are training in the air. This means that you’ll get a great workout without putting excessive stress on your joints. If running or jumping has ever caused pain or stress to your joints, Sky Gym may be just what you’re looking for.

What if I’m a master mover?

Are you a super gymnast-dancer-climber-yogi-fitness guru? Are you uber strong, ridiculously bendy, or both? Our classes are designed to challenge active people, but if you’re coming in with master level training in an intensive physical discipline, you may get more out of private or semi-private coaching sessions where a trainer can work with you individually to push you farther.

Can men take class?

Yes, men are encouraged to take class too! Although you will usually find a majority of women in our classes, we also have men who attend regular classes and develop into incredible performers. We have male trainers on our staff who can coach more strength intensive skills. Get ripped, develop great lats and six pack abs, increase muscular control and body awareness, and no splits necessary.

What if I have previous aerial dance experience?

We are glad that you have chosen to expand your aerial training with us! Your first step is to come to a Supervised Practice hosted by any Level 4-5 trainer. They will take you through a short evaluation of basic skills to determine what Sky Gym level would be best suited for you. We are looking for control, stability, an understanding of the skills, and endurance. Even if you can do the quadruple godzilla drop, if its sloppy, we may request you train at a lower level until the skills meet our standards. If you are more advanced but lack a significant portion of our vocabulary, we may also request that you take some lower level classes to fill in the gaps. Everyone must be evaluated, even if you’ve been in Cirque du Soleil for 20 years. If you are traveling from out of town, you can also send us an uncut video, no older than 1 year, of a 3 min choreography including a basic climb, foot knot, and inversion. Once we assign a level for you, you will be able to reserve classes online at or below your Level.
